About me

I was born in Bath, Somerset, brought up on a council estate and went to a comprehensive school. I come from a humble background and I’m proud of my working class roots.

I was the first in my family to go to university and my engineering degree led to a long career in the local aerospace industry in North Bristol from 1990-2023

I also spent 5 years doing scientific research with the Agricultural and Food Research Council in North Somerset.

I’ve experience of charity governance and I’m currently a trustee for Southmead Development Trust. I ran a mental health charity for a short while.

Since May 2024 I’ve been a Councillor for Southmead ward in Bristol.
